Film Posters

Friday The 13th

The tag line of this iconic horror movie is 'They were warned...They are doomed'. The use of the past tense 'were' and the present tense 'are' tells us that the characters are not safe from the killer. The use of black, red and white shows us that this is a dark and pessimistic movie. We also know this due to the lack of bright colours. The title is in the colour red, like blood, and also uses a machete instead of the letter I and the number 1. This is very clever as the machete is the killers main weapon. The main image of the poster is the killers iconic hockey mask but they have made it look like a skull, symbolising all the deaths he will cause. They have cleverly made it look like a skull by adding a cabin and a sign in front of his cheeks and added trees where his mouth would be. The background is only the colour black. This is a hand drawn movie poster so they have not used any filters. The story is about a killer hunting down a group of camp counsellers who are trying to reopen Camp Crystal Lake and the genre is horror.

Final Destination

The tag line for this movie is a play on words for the saying 'Rest in Peace'. But instead it says 'pieces', this could be because someone died in an explosion. This is an enigma code as we don't know for sure why it says pieces. The bullet hole is the action code in this poster. The smashed glass, caused by the gunshot, could symbolise 7 years of bad luck. The binary opposition in this poster is the half of a face and half of a skull. This could be representing life vs death due to the dark lighting vs the white lighting.
